Hunter Leveling Spec

One of the hardest parts of leveling a Hunter is picking the best Hunter Leveling Spec. To level, you will probably want to pick a Beast Mastery talent build, because of its high aggro and damage output from your pet, resulting in less damage taken, less ammo used, and less mana consumed. There are many different builds and methods, but this is one that I've found to have Minimal downtime and high survivability. There are other specs that may fit your playstyle, but this one fit me best and helped me level faster than any other hunter leveling spec. This is a very basic rundown of a Hunter leveling spec, but for a more comprehensive leveling guide to get you to 80 in no time, check out Zygor’s Leveling Guide. Note once more, that there may be other Hunter Leveling builds out there, but this Beast Mastery Hunter leveling spec worked better for me than anything else.

As you level, simply enter in your talent points in this order.

Beast Mastery Talents

Endurance Training : 5/5

Focused Fire : 2/2
Thick Hide : 3/3

Aspect Mastery : 1/1
Unleashed Fury : 5/5
Improved Mend Pet : 1/2
Ferocity : 5/5

Spirit Bond : 2/2
Intimidation : 1/1
Bestial Discipline : 2/2
Frenzy : 3/5
Ferocious Inspiration : 3/3
Bestial Wrath : 1/1

Catlike Reflexes : 3/3
Serpent’s Swiftness : 5/5
Longevity : 3/3
The Beast Within : 1/1
Cobra Strikes : 2/3
Kindred Spirits : 5/5
Beast Mastery : 1/1

Fill in the remaining levels in this order:

Marksmanship Talents

Lethal Shots : 5/5
Careful Aim : 3/3
Mortal Shots : 2/5
Go For The Throat : 2/2

Survival Talents

Improved Tracking : 5/5

Ok, now that you have your ideal Hunter Leveling Spec, you need a good attack setup:

  1. Cast Aspect of the Beast to boost pet damage and aggro
  2. Cast Hunter’s Mark on enemies to increase ranged attack damage
  3. Send your pet into the melee
  4. Use Concussive Shot to slow the enemies advancement and attack
  5. Use Rapid Fire to kick your attack speed up a level
  6. If the situation requires it, you can use your freeze trap
  7. Feign Death if you think you're in over your head.
  8. Wait for mobs to reset, revive your pet, continue on.

Now that you have the proper Hunter Leveling Spec, you will want to know how and where exactly to quest to level up and waste as little time as possible getting to level 80. See Zygor’s Leveling Guide for all your Hunter Needs from here on out.
