Paladins are without a doubt one of the most efficient farming classes. Back in Burning Crusade, Prot Paladin Gold tips included picking some very specific spots for finding groups of mobs and AoE burning them down. However, Paladin Gold Farming methods have changed quite a bit with the release of Wrath of the Lich King, and now Cataclysm. Almost all Paladin gold farming tips include AoE farming, but Retribution specialization now plays a big part in gold farming for Paladins. Read on and I will discuss both specs in detail.
Protection Paladin Gold Tips:
This plan is all about survival and taking down large groups of mobs, possibly 10 or more at a single time. The idea is to use Avenger's Shield to pull. Even though it only hits 3 targets, you can get a good group if you pull properly. Immediately hit Consecration, followed by Holy Wrath, and use Hammer of the Righteous for damage. This will also inflict vindication, which will reduce the damage you receive. If you find yourself taking a lot of damage, use Shield of the Righteous to increase your block chance, and Word of Glory to instantly heal yourself.
Retribution Paladin Gold Tips:
This rotation is going to be pretty similar, but one thing will be different. Instead of Hammer of the Righteous, you will want to use Divine Storm. This ability has a built in healing effect which will help you survive. You will also want to stack haste in order to reduce the cooldown of Divine Storm. Judge whenever you can to restore mana. If you get low on health, Sacred Shield should kick in. Also, Crusade will buff your Holy Light spell, just in case you need that large heal. You will want to make sure you use Seal of Righteousness, since the Seals of Command talent allows it to hit multiple targets. If you still find yourself struggling, try using a 1-handed weapon and shield for a little while. Experiment a little to find what works best for you. Retribution is also an excellent spec for single target farming as well. If you have trouble finding large groups of squishy mobs, then you can always take them down one at a time as you go.
General Paladin Gold Tips:
If you plan to AoE farm, start with small groups. If you find yourself struggling, keep it small until your gear is better. At first, you may find yourself struggling to find the right rotation. But here's an important concept: If you're dying, you aren't making any gold, you're just losing it to repair bills.
Another Paladin Gold Tip would to be make sure you find an area with a good concentration of melee mobs with low health that drop what you are looking for. This is easy to do if you revisit lower level zones. The mobs will be much easier to kill, and they won't be farmed as heavily as Cataclysm zones. However, there are several Cataclysm farming areas that are still excellent for AoE and single target farming. What's important to consider while AoE Farming, is to know exactly what areas are suitable for Paladin AoE Farming, and the specific items you will be farming with your Paladin. None of these Paladin gold farming tips will do you any good, if the items that you're farming don't sell well.
