Cataclysm Balance Druid Leveling Spec

While leveling, you can choose between feral or Balance as your Druid Leveling Spec. Balance is a somewhat trickier Druid Leveling Spec than feral, but it is a very fun way to level. Remember that these talents are still in a very raw form and are subject to a lot of changes. For a good talent guide that is always up to date, I suggest using wowpowercataclysm.com. When putting talents into your Balance Druid Leveling Spec, you will have a lot of trouble deciding which ones will benefit you right away. Some seem good now, but may not actually be useful until later levels. Look here for a solid Balance Druid Leveling Spec and plan.

level 10 – Choose “balance” on the talent summary page. This gives you Starsurge (a short cooldown spell that hits pretty hard).

Level 10, 11, 13 – Starlight wrath (tier 1) – decreases your cast times. Faster spells are good!

Level 15 & 17 – Nature’s Majesty (tier 1) – increaes your crit chance by 4%

19, 21, 23 – Moonglow (tier 2) decreases mana costs. Mana tends to be a problem for moonkin, so you won’t have to drink as much with this.

25 & 27 – balance of power (tier 2) – increases spell damage and turns spirit into hit rating to reduce the chance that your spells will miss.

29 – Moonkin form (tier 3) – You shift into moonkin form and you get haste, more damage, an armor bonus, and a fun graphic.

31 & 33 Shooting Stars (tier 3) – gives your DOTs a chance to make your starsurge instant and removes the cooldown. Should help make the leveling “rotation” a little more interesting.

35 – Typhoon (tier 3) – gives you a new spell that knocks things back from you and slows them.

37, 39, 41 – Nature’s Grace (tier 1) – gives you a haste bonus that will proc about once a minute from your DOTs.

43, 45, 47 – Owlkin Frenzy (tier 4) – gives you a damage bonus when you get hit. This is nice for leveling since things are often hitting me which will proc this ability.

49 – Force of Nature (tier 5) – spawns tree buddies to help you by attacking things.

51 – Earth & moon (tier 5) – gives you a group damage buff when you cast wrath or starfire.

53 – solar beam (tier 4) – gives you an ability that gives you a silence effect. When soloing, you can root a caster mob in a solar beam to keep it from hurting you.

55 & 57 – Gale Winds (tier 4) – your typhoon & hurricane do more damage.

59 – Sunfire (tier 5) – used to unlock the next talent at this point.

61, 63, 65 (tier 6) – when you are moving, your moonfire does more damage and costs less mana

67 & 69 (tier 3) – Talents that you will need later on once you learn your mastery, and helps you move up to the next tier.

71 Starfall (tier 7) – gives you an AOE spell that will aggro everything around you if you aren’t careful. Pick up glyph of focus for leveling to reduce it’s aggro radius.

73, 75, 77 – Heart of the wild (restoration tree, tier 1) – At this point you can finally go into resto and pick up heart of the wild that will increase your intellect.

You can also choose an AoE leveling build. You would want to add the Overgrowth talent, and use glyphs of Hurricane, Focus, and Starfall.

How to AoE grind as a druid –

1. Root your enemies (overgrowth roots all in an area)

2. Cast Hurricane until they are within starfall range (Some will break roots, but will be slowed 50%)

3. Cast starfall

4. Typhoon to knock mobs back

5. Hurricane again if needed.

6. At Level 85 you can lay down your wild mushrooms for extra AoE damage.

I will say that I do NOT recommend AoE as a regular leveling tactic. Too many variables can totally screw you, but for a small group of 5-6 mobs, you can take them down pretty fast. While leveling, it is best to stick to questing.

This is just one of many routes you can choose while leveling your druid. This Balance druid leveling spec sacrifices some group utility for pure damage and solo killing power. Keep in mind that talent specs are always changing with major and minor update patches. You will want to keep an up to date guide on the best leveling tactics to pair up with your Balance Druid leveling spec. wowpowercataclysm.com is always kept up to date with the best druid leveling specs and with Cataclysm coming soon, the talent trees are getting a huge makeover with all new features and abilities. wowpowercataclysm.com will have all talents updated with recommendations on how to spend your talent points.

If you are having trouble leveling, wowpowercataclysm.com has reviews of all the best leveling guides that include an in game talent spec and the perfect Druid leveling path that gets you to 80 faster and easier than any other way. No matter what level you are, you load the guide, and it points with an arrow the direction to each monster, quest giver, trainer etc. Its pretty crazy. It also has an in game box that tells you exactly where and how far to run, what to kill, what to pick up, etc. Unlike the Questhelper Addon, it actually shows where to PICK UP quests, and which ones to do, and what order to do them in.
